I’m so excited that 5 O'Clock Fashionistas asked me to come up with the cocktail for Texas on their Coaster 2 Coaster event! I wanted to make something that shows off our state while tasting amazing, so I asked my friend Tony, a bartender, to help me out. Texas is known for many things, but one of my favorites are the wildflowers here. So that was the source of inspiration for Tony and I’s cocktail: The TX Wildflower. Go check it out at http://www.5oclockfashionistas.com/ ! |
A bit about the background of the drink…TX Whiskey is brewed right here in Fort Worth, TX and has a nice smooth taste that’s slightly reminiscent of honey. On the other hand, St. Germain is an elderflower liqueur that is almost sickly sweet on its own. In case you didn’t know (no shame, I didn’t), elderflowers are a wildflower, and where we got the name for the cocktail. Put the two together and you have a perfect summer drink!
The TX Wildflower Recipe is:
1.5 oz. TX Whiskey
¾ oz. St. Germain
¾ oz. Lemon Juice
½ oz. Simple Syrup
Method:
Pour all ingredients in a shaker and shake well. Pour over ice and garnish with a mint sprig. Yep, that simple.
