Jose has to be one of the only people that doesn't like the idea of taking a vacation (but seriously, he loves Texas and would be totally happy to never leave Dallas). I get it cause any time he took a trip with his family when he was little he ended up getting sick, kind of tainting the whole experience...but, I have had a huge case of wanderlust ever since studying abroad in Sevilla. You can see the issue. So I've been working on convincing Jose to start branching out more and at least give the whole traveling thing a try and he finally agreed!
I started dreaming up all of these awesome trips to South Africa, Bora Bora, New Zealand. And then he sent in all of the forms to get his passport and the people decided to take forever. Dozens of calls to government workers later, we decided to go to a US territory and pray the passport arrives soon.
We decided on St. Croix and had a great time! The pictures above are from the time we spent in downtown Christiansted: a small town that's filled with so many historical and colorful buildings. I always love checking out older churches, especially abroad; they're normally so well taken care of and it's interesting to see how the architects have tried to make them stand out amongst the other buildings. I also love checking out the cemeteries (I know, kind of strange) to see how old the people are, the different names, and all the different styles of tombstones; Jose however was not down to explore that ;)
We had no idea that there were so many hidden gems in the US Virgin Islands, between the most beautiful beach in the world (it's actually rated #1, I'm not just exaggerating), exotic fish, and the first underwater trail. I'll be posting lots about our adventures, so stay tuned!
