Potatoes are a Celiac’s best friend! That’s why I decided to whip up this quick meal that’s also filling.
Here’s what you’ll need:
For the brats –
1 package of bratwursts
1 Tbsp. olive oil
For the potatoes–
4 medium sized potatoes
½ onion
1 tsp. minced garlic
Salt and Pepper
Dill
Let’s start:
Put the olive oil in a skillet and turn the heat to medium high. Once the oil is hot, add your bratwursts. Brats, sausages, and hot dogs can sometimes be tricky to find gluten-free. Isn’t that gross that they’re using flour as a filler to use less meat? Anyways, just make sure you Google the brand and make sure it’s gluten-free before you buy it. I tend to like the ones with cheese or bacon in them just because it adds more flavor to the meal. You can also use Italian sausages if you can’t find any brats. Just make sure they aren’t the type that’s already been pre-cooked.
While those are cooking, rinse your potatoes and put them in the microwave for two minutes. You don’t want to cook them, you just want to give them a head start on the cooking process and make them easier to cut. Chop them into large cubes and then chop up your onion.
Once your brats are cooked, put them on a plate to cool and add the potatoes, onion, and garlic to the skillet.

You shouldn’t need any more oil because there should be lots of brat grease in the pan, but if that’s not the case, add a bit more. Season generously with salt and pepper and flip the potatoes every once in a while until their nice and golden brown. Then turn the heat off and leave them in the skillet to stay warm.
Take your brats and cut them into thin coins. Then, add them to your potatoes and sprinkle with dill seasoning.
This recipe makes enough for five people (depending on how big of an appetite they have). Another quick suggestion, if you have a grill, it’s super simple to put the potatoes in a grilling skillet or foil pouches and grill everything and mix at the end. Enjoy!
